Special Edition Locke & Key Vol. 4: Keys To the Kingdom (Locke & Key Volume) with FREE MOBI EDITION!

As the fourth volume of the Locke & Key series, this book starts off as more a slice-of-life as the Locke kids adjust to living with keys. The first few chapters aren’t as compelling as the previous volume and little happens in terms of plot.However, there is some creative presentation of the stories that are unique to the media. For example, every page of the first chapter in this volume uses the same exact layout and paneling, but the art style changes from cartoony (like Calvin and Hobbes) when the story is from Bodes perspective to the more mature art style of the rest of the series from the other characters’ perspectives. While I appreciate the creative experimentation with the Media, I didn’t much care for the results.Also the volume handles some socially sensitive topics of race, but it has been done better in other books.Fortunately, the volume concludes in a page turning finale that leaves me excited for the series’s future. It draws on the tools and characters of the series brilliantly to deliver one of the best conclusion I’ve read.
